Spring Spruce Up!

Spruce up for Spring on a Dime

You don’t have to wait for a groundhog or a calendar to tell you that spring has officially sprung to start updating your decor for the season. No matter the weather, you can make your home’s interior come alive with these easy tips.
Perk Up with Pops of Yellow

To me, nothing says spring like the color yellow. A large white bowl full of lemons or a glass pitcher filled with flowers and lemon slices can bring instant and simple style to a kitchen.

In the kitchen, I love natural objects that serve double duty as inexpensive accessories and ingredients. Lemons on display are cost effective style accessories and ready for any dish or drink!

Yellow sunflowers will make anyone smile. Add them to any space for an instant decor pick-me-up. When possible, buy potted plants. They are more cost efficient, as last longer than freshly cut flowers and can be planted in your garden once they’re grown. Be sure to choose plants that will withstand your climate.

Play With Your Pillows

Get bright! Replace the throw pillows on your sofa or bed with brightly colored ones, and don’t be afraid to mix and match colors or bold prints. Browse the aisles of one of your favorite discount stores to find the best bargains. Don’t forget some of the fabulous online sources for pillows like Jossandmain.com. I like to mix unexpected colors and textures for the biggest impact and change. Have fun with it!

Cacti and Succulents are Your Friends

Bringing the outdoors in is the quickest way to get into the spirit of spring. Most people fear that plant decor will inevitably end up costing them quite a bit of money, as the plants might need to be replaced over time. To avoid this, I love to get a variety of fuss-free cacti and succulents and plant them in simple, bright containers to add life to any room.

Stir Up Your Settings

We love a departure from our normal everyday surroundings and, especially after a long winter, we can’t wait to freshen our gardens and outdoor spaces. But don’t forget the day-to-day indoor spaces! Changing the things we use everyday quickly makes us feel like we’re on vacation or expecting company. It’s amazing how much effort we’ll put into our home decor when we’re entertaining guests, yet we don’t update and make changes for ourselves! Add a few new herb and flower themed dishes, glasses and placemats ….Viola! Spring has arrived!

Funky Frames

Grab a can of spray paint and update an old frame, or hit your local discount stores to look for inexpensive colored frames. Making a small change to the items you look at everyday can have a big impact when freshening up your space. Take everything off one table or ottoman in your home and replace, change or paint 1 or 2 items with something bright and colorful. You will be blown away at how easily you can freshen your space.

Design Camp: Atlanta

Home from fantastic and hospitable Atlanta and I have to say, I couldn’t be happier with the way Design Camp Atlanta went down! Needlees to say, I love my PIC, Lori Dennis…Couldn’t ask for a better business partner and friend! We had our 1 year anniversary (we met speaking in Las Vegas, Influential Women of Design Panel) Happy, Happy LD! Thank You Fox Theater, Hotel Indigo and Georgians.

As usual we met some amazing designers, women, men, mothers, fathers and fast new fiends at Camp. It’s beyond fulfilling for me to see how much we can inspire these men and women over the course of 2.5 days. For many of you asking me “How did Atlanta Design Camp go?”, just read these reviews, the first from a delight of a woman, Ryan, a new friend for sure….

“Thank You! Wonderful write up…

Latest Prize Project and Feature

This home is near and dear to my heart, and one of my favorites!  It’s still a work in progress, as we are remodeling the exterior and adding glass tile here and there.  Notice the use of black as the unifying color and seemingly “dark” fixtures, yet the home is not dark at all!

Enjoy…

What my clients say this week ….

“Kelli was the answer to a prayer. I spent many years working with different designers and each time when the project was completed I didn’t feel that the room truly reflected me or that it had the “finished” look I was seeking, regardless of what I had spent. Kelli understood that I didn’t want or need more or new furniture and helped me refurbish what I had, combine it in a new way and surround it with accessories and architectural details that when combined became beautiful, comfortable and “finished” rooms.

Kelli has the ability and willingness to meet you where you are, and understands what you are seeking. She’s very practical when you are seeking practicality and right there with you when you’re shooting for the moon. It’s not the typical cookie cutter, everything from the design center experience. Her creativity, vision and talent combine for a unique one-of-a-kind experience that is truly yours.

Thank You Janet…  very, very kind of you!
